Antique English Pewter Spire Flagon By Ingram & Hunt, 1778 - 1807.

Description:
 
A spire flagon of tall slender form by Ingram & Hunt of Bewdley, England; who worked 1778-1807. The flagon has a tapering cylindrical body on a flared foot. There are incised bands just above the foot. The flagon has a double dome lid topped with a finial, it has a open chair back thump piece. The handle is of a triple scroll form with a fish tail terminal.
 
There are a partial set of makers hall marks to the left of the handle.
 
Note: An almost identical example is published as plate 27, in Provincial Pewterer''s by Homer & Hall, dated as late 18th century.
 
There is also an example published on the Pewter Society website as ware number 3804.
 
These flagon were for communion use in Churches.
 
Condition:
 
Excellent condition with a polished silver grey finish and some small traces of light oxide.
 
Repairs: There are no repairs that I could detect.
