In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

Inside, the box is sectioned to hold the various bottles and has a velvet padded lid to keep them safe in transport. There are 14 sections in total of various size and depth and the box comes with 14 glass bottles, many with their original ground glass stoppers and paper labels. Below the bottles is a drawer which contains two further small glass bottles, a glass pestle and mortar, a glass measuring cup, a set of weighing scales and weights and two small spatulas - truly everything a travelling doctor would have needed in the 19th century!

Overall the condition of the box and contents are superb. A couple of the bottles look like later replacements but it is still remarkably complete and displays beautifully.
The mahogany box is strong and sturdy with a beautiful aged patina. There are some small knocks and marks and signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental. Inside it is clean and tidy and the partitions are sturdy and in good condition. I do not have a key for the box and it is missing the top part of the lock.

There is no major damage to any of the glass bottles. There are some nibbles and small chips around the tops of some of them but nothing serious and the contents of the drawer are also in excellent condition.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.
