Brian MacDonald Antique Rugs & Carpets has dated this piece to the 1890s.

Weavers from the Kerman area went to Kashmir during the early twentieth century and introduced the 'boteh' to the Kashmiris who then reproduced the design in the famous Kashmir Shawl. The same 'boteh' again was used later in the shawls made in Paisley, Scotland.
This charming little rug is in excellent condition with the selvedges overbound in silk.
