William Soutter & Sons were founded in Birmingham in the 19th century. Originally brass founders and plumbers (1870s), they began producing quality copper and brass art metal hollowware in the late 19th century. The ‘Soutterware’ mark and distinctive S&S stamp can be found under their jardinières, coal scuttles and kettles of the late 19th to early 20th century.
