Mid 18th Century George II Walnut Library Open Armchair of Grande Scale

A rare and unusual George II walnut open armchair of grande proportions stand 4 ft high with wonderful up-scrolled toes.

English Circa 1845.

The serpentine padded back, raked for comfort, over padded down-curved open arms and a generous stuffed seat, raised on wonderfully carved walnut cabriole legs with carved acanthus leaf and C-scrolls to the knee finishing on up-scrolled toes and bun feet.

In excellent condition with a fine colour to the walnut timber, the fabric has been on for some years with nicks and marks which is useable for some others may wish to recover.

An unusual and strong design of the period with the distinctive scrolled toes which are a know feature on a few rare specimens but un fortunately no maker has yet been ascribed.

VIEWINGS

We have a reputation for being long established antique dealers in London having had showrooms concurrently running in Islington, Chelsea and Ascot. We have relocated our new showroom, due to London overheads, easily reached between A1 or A10 to just outside of Hertford, Hertfordshire.
