Antique Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss jewelled movement which is working nicely. The movement is movement is signed Thomas Russell, Liverpool and it has their Tempus Fugit logo.

Thomas Russell & Son was a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some scratching where a tool has slipped in the past.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated 'Thomas Russell & Son' model from the Illinois Watch Case Company. It has a nicely decorated edge and the stepped front and back which was very typical of the Thomas Russell model. Condition-wise, there is general surface marking and some fairly gentle unevenness to the case back.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in lovely condition.

The signed dial has some short hairline cracks around number 10 and a small chip to the edge of the dial by number 10, mostly covered by the bezel. Original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes in its original Thomas Russell card box.
