The edge of the circular top with a stiff-leaf carved border surround .

The inset Sarrancolin marble top having vivid colourful striations and figuring.
The table of robust construction being of carved oak , fitted with a horizontal bearer to the circular frame to support the marble top .

An impressively designed and decorative table in excellent condition , with it’s original marble top of arresting colour and quality.
The design of this table is closely based on the Roman marble original excavated in Pompeii and found at the house known as the Casa di P. Casca Longus ( see photograph)
The Sarrancolin marble quarries are near the towns of Sarrancolin, Ilhet and Beyrede-Jumet in the Haute-Pyrenees, southwestern France .
