Victorian Gothic Carved Oak Chair Dated 1869

Description

A fantastic antique Victorian carved oak chair dated 1869 and signed by the maker. The tall oblong back carved with a stylised willow tree and with a scroll and foliate-carved crest centred on an escutcheon inscribed, J.K.K., 1869, and with monarch head finials above an oblong splat carved with a stylised willow tree within ropetwist uprights over a boarded seat with flower and foliate-carved rails on ropetwist and blocked legs and a serpentine stretcher. A very decorative Gothic chair profusely carved throughout carved to the back is ” T. Benn. Fecit.” (Fecit being Latin for he made). In very good condition, solid and sturdy it would make a fantastic statement piece.
