A classy Edwardian era silver plated long letter opener with marks for James Dixon &Sons. It has a chamfered swordlike shaft and features a moulded set of Princes of Wales feathers on the pommel/handle. It is beautifully made and in excellent condition. It dates to c1890/1900 and may have been made to anticipate the succession of Prince Edward to Queen Victoria.
