There is lever which protrudes from the thread escutcheon which is pressed down to release a false front which drops down to reveal storage to the interior. It stands on elegant turned legs and overall is in good condition with a richly figured mahogany with good colour and patina. A really good quality piece, it is a small useful size and would make an attractive hall table, bedside side table or be perfect as a small desk for a laptop.
