Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The shelves are held in place with pegs, as well as back slats which are held in place with their original screws, making this a sturdy piece.

From the early 1900s Liberty & Co began to sell its own range of Arts and Crafts furniture manufactured in commercial workshops. The ‘Sedley’ as this portable oak bookcase was known was a product of this home-grown arts and crafts furniture, a 4 tier version of which is illustrated in their 1907 Yuletide Gifts catalogue.
