19th C. American Cast Iron Money Bank 'Aunt Jemima' c.1870

This is a original cast iron black Americana money bank from c.1870

The money box depicts a black lady, wearing a white skirt and red jacket, a head scarf with polkadots, she holds her hands

firmly on her sides.

The money bank is made of two half's of cast iron and cold painted, at the back there is a money slot and a screw

to open-up the money bank.

The original paint is still there for about 70%.

The money bank is in a good condition for it's age and is has no markings.

Dimensions: Height approx. 26cm - Width approx. 17cm - Depth approx. 10cm

A cast iron still bank is a non-mechanical savings device produced primarily during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Unlike mechanical banks, these items feature no moving parts and rely on sculptural form and painted detail to function as decorative savings vessels.
