Description

A large, interesting brass bound military campaign rosewood writing slope, it has three secret drawers and unusually, an original single inkwell (the inkwell does have a chip to the base but can't be seen when sitting in the box). Comes complete with keys for both locks. A rare Thompson lock with attractive stamped escutcheon with coat of arms.

The exterior has brass protected edges and central clear cartouche. Excellent quality campaign handles. Replacement leather skiver to writing slope, and top pocket. Additional storage to the base of the box.

This box dates to around 1800 - 1820 and is a large size writing box measuring 50cm wide, 27cm deep and 18cm tall

Wonderful condition, this is one for the collector.
