Description

Size: 4ft 11in x 2ft 9in (149x 84cm).

Antique Afghan Baluch camel ground prayer rug with tree of life.

Circa 1900.

The rug is beautifully drawn with a tree of life and has excellent colour, the camel wool ground is very soft. The rug has a traditional Baluch design to the main border.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and almost full pile.

The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display. The rug has a soft floppy handle.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

Baluch rugs were traditionally woven by nomadic Baluch tribes inhabiting the borderlands between eastern Iran, southern Turkmenistan, and western Afghanistan. These textiles reflect a nomadic heritage, featuring stylized geometric motifs, prayer niches, and stylized floral structures.
