Indian White Marble Table Top Inlaid with Semi Precious Cut Stones, C 1900

This stunning piece was made in India circa 1900. It is made from white marble and has a moulded edge. The top is superbly inlaid with a floral design with semi-precious cut stones such as malachite, agate, turquoise, marble lapis and mother of pearl.

Tabletops like this one were purchased by travellers visiting India and brought home where they had table bases made for them.

Some, like this one, were displayed on a stand as a work of art.
