Her hands are folded in her lap, she seems contemplative. Her hat is slightly tilted, fashionable, but we cannot make out her face. Is she expecting someone? What her story is, we will never know - but we will always wonder, and this makes the painting forever engaging.

An oil on canvas dating from circa 1910-15, the painting is unsigned, and we have no indication as to who the artist is. An antique work, the painting presents discreet stable craquelure, with marks from the central stretcher bars on the canvas. Measuring 55 x 38 cm, the artwork is presented in a luxurious frame by Delf, one of the top French frame makers. The overall framed size is 73 x 55 cm.
