Japanese Shibuichi & Silver Hanging Boat Koro - Incense Burner

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this most charming Meiji period 1868-1912, shibuichi , silver and mixed metal Koro ( incense burner ) unusually formed as a Yakatabune or traditional Japanese river boat, the solid shibuichi hull is carved in fine detail and houses a silver liner that is concealed within the removable mixed metal canopy , the canopy formed with sliding windows and fine silver inlaid doors from which the incense escapes, the roof imitating bamboo framed woven matting, the Koro would make a fantastic feature within a window or recess and is suspended upon three chains rising to a single looped chain, a fantastic rare yet perfectly functional Japanese work of art from the late Meiji period.

Now re available as part of that entire collection purchased from the executors of the estate.
