Exceptional Quality Mahogany Low Linen Press C.1840.

Description

Exceptional quality mid 19th.c. mahogany low linen press with drawers c.1840. Maker unknown but very much in the manner of Gillow’s of Lancaster. Seven feet long, and four feet six inches tall. Polished top made of two solid mahogany boards over a two door centre cupboard fitted with five sliding shelves, flanked on each side with twin banks of five drawers of graduated depth. Superb timber, especially well figured door panels. Moulded drawer fronts with crisp turned knobs and solid mahogany drawer linings. Original locks stamped for the celebrated metalworkers Comyn Ching & Co. of Seven Dials, London (established in the early 18th century and still in business today). On a moulded plinth raised on large wooden castors. Fabulous condition, original throughout. Lovely mellow colour, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Splits into three sections plus top and plinth for ease of delivery.
