Description
A wonderful, vibrant ring from the Edwardian period, c1915. The ring is made from 14kt yellow gold with white gold settings. The ring has a beautiful old European cut diamond at the centre, which measures approx 4mm in diameter making it around 0.25 of a carat. It draws a little colour, though its overall appearance is white and it is eye clean. It is flanked by two stunning synthetic rubies on either side. Synthetic rubies and sapphires became very popular during this period as the techniques of creating them were being refined. They have all the same properties as their natural counterparts, though they are manmade. You will often find synthetic stones in rings from this period. The rubies are lovely old Euro cuts, mirroring that of the diamond, and have a wonderful bright pink colour. The combination is very striking and this classic design is elevated by these beautiful gemstones.
