Pair of Mary Gregory Cranberry Glass Vases

1900 - 1920
Description

Pair of Mary Gregory cranberry glass vases

This pair of Pair of Mary Gregory cranberry glass vases were made circa 1900.

This genre of work with the delightful white enamel on glass is known as Mary Gregory. It was thought that Mary Gregory who worked at Boston & Sandwich Glass Company first made this but after extensive research this has now been debunked. See Mary Gregory Glassware by R&D Truitt.

The best theory is now that it was made in Bohemia and became a massive industry in that area employing nearly 90,000 in this industry. It was high fashion from 1885 into the 1920’s.

There were various qualities, and most were quickly decorated and poorly finished, these are best to avoid.

I always look to purchase and sell the pieces that were beautifully decorated and are especially charming.

This pair that Iam pleased to offer you I would attribute to Muhlhaus of Haida (Novy Bor, now Czech Republic)

Each vase with the wavy fluted top a good-sized body and standing a clear glass foot. These were made in 2 pieces with the cranberry body that slip ed into the clear glass base.

28cms high 11ins

18cms diameter 7ins

All Measurements are approximate, whilst we take care in measuring there may at times be a very slight difference.

This Pair of Mary Gregory fluted cranberry vases has the Hingstons Antiques brand guarantee plate. This gives you the peace of mind that it meets the quality and expectations you expect when purchasing from Hingstons Antiques.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
