Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A system cane is a functional walking stick that incorporates a hidden device or implement within its handle or shaft, such as a corkscrew, compass, or writing instrument. Popular during the 19th century, these canes combined everyday utility with personal attire.

Victorian horn walking sticks typically featured handles crafted from polished bovine or stag horn, mounted onto wooden shafts made of malacca, bamboo, ash, or hazel, often secured with brass or silver metal collar bands.

Authentic 19th-century examples display natural wear around concealed joints, hand-cut screw threads rather than modern machine threads, and genuine variation in natural handle materials like horn or bone.

An antique walking cane can be displayed upright in a ceramic or brass umbrella stand, mounted horizontally on a wall rack, or arranged inside a glass cabinet alongside other historic curiosities.

Natural horn handle components should be kept away from direct heat and excessive humidity to prevent warping or splitting. Gentle cleaning with a dry microfibre cloth and occasional light conditioning with mineral oil will preserve the finish.
