A very fine William IV silver Castle Top aide memoir by famous small worker Joseph Willmore, one side with a cast panel of Newstead Abbey, the ancestral home of Lord Byron, and the other with Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott. Most Castle-Top card cases and vinaigrettes have die- stamped panels which are quite soft, but these are cast and of superb quality and being rock hard, there is no wear to the definition. Opens to reveal the original Morocco leather lining and ivorine pages printed with the days of the week. Original silver pencil doubles as closing mechanism, inscribed M for medium softness lead.
Condition: In wonderful antique condition throughout with one small split to one edge of the leather binding.
Maker: Joseph Willmore Birmingham 1836
Dimensions: 85 x 55mm
