Jan Stenvinkel Swedish | 1933 - 1989 Jan Stenvinkel was a Swedish Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1933. Jan Stenvinkel's first artwork to be offered at auction was Composition at Göteborgs Auktionsverk in 2011 The artist died in 1989. He was the son of the physicist and school leader, docent Gösta Stenvinkel, who belonged to the Långaryd family, and Elsa Sköld. Stenvinkel studied for Endre Nemes and Torsten Renqvist at Valand Academy of the Arts in Gothenburg 1954–1957 and then made study trips to Spain and France. He was awarded the City of Gothenburg's cultural scholarship in 1964 and the Swedish state's major work scholarship in 1966–196. He has exhibited separately at Lilla ateljén in Stockholm, Gallery 54 in Gothenburg and in Strängnäs and at Gummesons konsthall.in Stockholm. Together with Lars-Erik Ström and Leif Knudsen, he carried out the exhibition Poetic Abstraction, which was shown in several places in Sweden, and together with Ivan Rodell and Olle Ängkvist , he exhibited at Galleri Observatorium in Stockholm. He participated in Liljevalch's Stockholm Salons , Group West's exhibition at Sveagalleriet and in several group exhibitions at Gallery 54 in Gothenburg as well as international exhibitions in Paris and New York. His art consists of landscapes often from a bird's eye view in oil , watercolor or gouache. As an illustrator and graphic artist, he illustrated, among other things, Lennart Blom's collection of poems Ekotempel and Barbro Hörberg's Så kan du låta and participated in Valand's lithography portfolios in 1956 and 1957. Stenvinkel is represented at Moderna museet in Stockholm, Hallands konstmuseum , Eskilstuna konstmuseum and Göteborgs konstmuseum Jan Stenvinkel was married three times, the first time in 1959–1962 to the actress Gurie Nordwall (born 1933) and had a daughter Maria Stenvinkel (1959–2001). The second time he was married from 1965 to the singer Barbro Hörberg (1932–1976) and the couple adopted a daughter Liza (born 1970) who is mentioned in the wife's song "I can not sleep". He was married for the third time in 1981–1988 to Lollo Sundler (born 1949).He was the nephew of the artist Ragnar Sandberg . His dust rests on Valleberga cemetery in Skåne. Internal Ref: SS00025
