Antique Waltham P S Bartlett full hunter pocket watch, 1919.

The watch has a high grade 17-jewel stem-winding movement with gold star wheel regulator, P S Bartlett grade, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 23084230 dates it back to 1919.

The Bartlett grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.

The movement is protected by an inner cover.

The watch measures 50.2mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is the Star model made by the Dennison Watch Case Company. The case has minor marking from use and a small "ding" to the edge of the front cover but overall it is in nice condition for a 1910s piece.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside the acrylic lens is in nice condition.

The signed dial looks super to the naked eye with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. If viewed through a jeweller's loupe, there are a few very faint hairline cracks between 11 and 12.

The watch has its original gold hands and blued steel sub seconds hand.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
