Description

What I love about this gorgeous little Afshar tribal rug is the powerful inner red and blue border, highlighted in golden-yellow. Other than that, the design is stunning with wonderful use of natural madder-red, two shades of indigo-blue, turquoise amongst others. Made around 1880 in the Sirjan area of south Persia, the Afshar refer to this field design of lozenges as 'bandi'.

In very good condition, the rug, like all my rugs, has been expertly washed, to enhance these superb vegetable colours.

Size: 1.42 x 1.22m (4' 8" x 4' 0").
