A good French Napoleon III rosewood and ormolu empire style mantel clock by maker Perrelet et Fils, Paris (clock makers to the Emperor). With gilded eagle surmount, applied ormolu scallops to the sides and fanciful bird headed winged lions to the front. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell. Stamped by the maker on the backplate with Serial number: 1766.
