Antique Ravenscroft Barristers' Robe Case

1900 - 1920
Description

A fine example of an antique barrister's robe box dating from the early 20th century. It is made of metal which is painted black with gold lined detail. It has metal carrying handles either side and a large gilt carrying handle. It also comes with its original working lock and key.

The interior of the box is painted blue and has its original maker's label aside the lid "Ede, Son & Ravenscroft. Established 1689. Robe Makers. Court Tailors. by Special Appointments to H.M. The King, Queen Alexandra & H.R.H The Prince of Wales. 93 & 94 Chancery Lane, London"

It is in good condition for its age. There are some areas of wear on the paint and some small surface marks and light scratches, some minor dinks but nothing detrimental and overall it is clean and tidy and the hinge is strong.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
