A Georgian Solid Silver Engraved & Engine Turned Hip Flask - Archibald Douglas 1835

Description

This excellent Georgian solid silver hip flask was made by silversmith Archibald Douglas of London in 1835.

Made in the late Georgian period, this flask showcases an array of superb craftsmanship techniques used in the era. The exterior features a spectacular engine turned design with the top section fully hand engraved with a crisp acanthus leaf design.

The lid features additional engine-turned designs to complement the body and a Cormorant bird on top. The lid remains in excellent condition with its original cork and a leak-free screw down closure.

In hand, the craftsmanship and quality are ever more apparent with the crisp and sharp detailing of the exterior and the overall weight and sturdy feel in your hand.

The hip flask has been fully hallmarked on the base of the flask.

CONDITION

Great Condition - The flask is in great antique condition with no major damage, issues or leaks. For accuracy, there are some minor dings on side of the base and one very minor dent on the side as shown in the last image. Please refer to the photographs to examine the condition in further detail.
