Description

A smart and practical antique walnut writing bureau, dating from the 1890-1910 period. This is of superb quality with lots of lovely features.

We have had this French polished, it’s in great condition for its age. This retains a beautiful patina a has some old minor wear visible, commensurate for age, which is mainly where the solid walnut mouldings on the bottom have moved a bit with age.

The burr walnut veneers are beautiful throughout, with herringbone inlays bordering the cross banded edges. This bureau has a really nice interior, complete with pigeon holes, extra drawers, a small internal locking cabinet & a tooled leather writing surface. The drawers and writing flap all have locks. The drawers are all solid oak lined with fine dovetails & are graduated in depth.

This is a nice compact piece of furniture & has a wonderful original colour, with loads of character.
