This super twelve drawer cabinet is original from it's hidden hardwood casters to it's finely cut key. So very rare to find a cabinet in this condition. Having survived 130 years and retained it's colour and components it is an outstanding example of the products supplied by this west end company who were the very essence of the great age of discovery and collecting. This cabinet remained in the same family from it's delivery to the present day.
Twelve solid mahogany drawers, (with oval screw cuts to the back of the base, a mark of a master cabinet maker), all drawers run smoothly and effortlessly. All original turned mahogany knobs, closely fitting glazed frame tops to all drawers. Original lock and key etc. An excellent and outstanding example and a cabinet that although originally designed to house a collection of insects will serve a multitude of collectables.
It is worth mentioning here that many of our cabinets find a new life as 'family archives' thereby storing, preserving and keeping intact, all manner of notable family items through generations, documents, photographs, objets de virtu, (even baby teeth with provenance!). This cabinet would serve so well as such.
