Description

A handsome and fairly large pair of desk-top English letter scales made from solid English Oak with a serpentine front and having been beautifully polished.

The balance and weights are made from heavy solid brass, the balance being unusually decorated with an engraved foliate design, a sign of real quality, this detail rarely seen.

The letter pan is also signed by the manufacturer, J & E Ratcliff, Makers. There are four weights, 8oz / 4oz / 2 oz & 1oz.

Excellent condition, measuring 9 1/2" x 5" x 6 1/2" tall.
