Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The box opens to reveal the superbly fitted interior with full set of 32 white and red-stained ivory chessmen; 30 white and red-stained ivory draughts and backgammon pieces; cribbage board; whist scoring board; whist “hand” markers; set of six dice and set of eight pegs.

A button at the back operates a spring-loaded lower drawer which opens to reveal four sets of Victorian playing cards together with their matching Bezique scorecards; pair of ivory and ebony shakers; quantity of red and white counters and a central compartment containing dozens of gilt “Georgian” playing tokens.

The entire box is lined with finest quality figured satinwood, and all hinges; brackets; lockplates etc are of beautifully gilded brass, together with the gilded retailers label for: J & T Forcie, of Buchanan St. Glasgow. A remarkably Games Box in remarkable condition. circa 1870-1885. 13ins (33cms) wide.
