~~ Excellent original condition throughout ~~
This is a truly outstanding mantel clock by the godfather of french clockmakers Achille Brocot.
The clock is in the Egyptian revival style popular during the late 19th century both here and in France with an obelisk shaped body flanked by a pair of stunning solid bronze sphinxes to each side. The detail of the sphinxes is quite superb with detailed hyroglyphics tablets etched on them. if any scholar is able to decipher the hyrogliphics I would be most eager to know. The base is decorated with a bronze winged scarab beetle and the whole thing stands on bronze feet.

The black and red marble dial is in perfect original condition and is marked with the name of the high quality jeweler retailer Wassell and Halford of Fenchurch Street, London.
As you would expect from Achille Brocot it has one of the finest French movements that you will find, it is fully marked with the A B in a star the trade mark of Achille Brocot, it is totally original and has just undergone a full and comprehensive restoration and overhaul by Alan Williams of Plymouth Clocks, a Fellow of the British Horological Institute, so is in tip top condition and should give trouble free service for many years to come.

It comes with its original numbered pendulum and a key.
It runs for over 8 days between winding and strikes on the hour and half hour on a small tuned bell.
This clock dates from about 1875 and has obviously been highly prized and looked after, the condition is a credit to its previous owners.

This is an extremely rare composition from one of histories greatest clockmakers and will be the highlight of anyones collection.
The clock movement comes with a full 12 month warranty.
