Solid Silver Russian Easter Egg with Gilt Interior- P. Barabanon 19th Century

19th century
Description

We are delighted to offer this unique silver Russian easter egg made by silversmith P. Barabanon in Moscow in the late 19th Century.

The exterior has a bright-cut style engraving of scrolls, natural motifs and floral designs encompassing both the lower and upper half of the egg.

The egg can be opened by twisting the two ends, revealing a magnificent gilt interior. Small items may be stored inside the egg including as pills if one desires to do so.

Unlike counterpart "egg-cup" Russian egg designs, this unique design does not feature any screws/stands and solely presents itself as an ornamental and collectable object of Imperial Russian silver.

The egg has an intricate level of craftsmanship from the overall aesthetic proportions to the airtight fit of the lid. The fine craftsmanship is further apparent in hand with its seamless smooth dimensions and dense weight.

Both ends of the egg are hallmarked with the 84 Kokoshnik Moscow mark and the maker's mark for P. Barabanon.

A highly collectable piece of Imperial Russian Silverware with a novelty and collectable aspect for both silver and Russian history enthusiasts.

Intricately engraved floral & nature motifs.

Interior Gilding.

Traditional Imperial Russian Silver Egg.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
