This Georgian solid silver box was made by silversmith John Hudson of London in 1785.

With the box being made during the popularity or neoclassical design both in artworks and silverware, this Georgian box features a minimalist design with one single crest in the front and a reeded lid on top.

Despite its 'simplicity' from an aesthetic standpoint, the box is far from simple in terms of quality and craftsmanship.

The entire box is made from an impressive heavy and thick gauge of silver with a very sturdy and trustworthy feel that can only be fully appreciated when holding in hand.

The lid slots on to the base of the box flawlessly, with a tight and accurate fit without it being too tight or too loose - this box most certainly goes to display the finesse of fine Georgian silverware made by uncompromising silversmiths.

The large size of the box allows for multiple purposes with practical uses even today. Some of such uses include - Powder box, snuff box, bonbons, small items that you may wish to store safely.

The box is fully hallmarked with clear English marks on the bottom.
