E .Irlam Briggs – Portrait of Miss Eveline Maud Pleydell-Bouverie as a child – Oil On Canvas – 1896

Height 58 cm, Width 48 cm and Depth 5 cm

Miss Emma Irlam Briggs (fl1890-1950) was a painter of portraits, historical figure subjects, landscape and genre. Studied at Wimbledon Art College, At RA Schools and in Paris at the Acadamie Julien. Exhibited at Royal Academy 1892-1901 and in the provinces. She lived in Dorset

Eveline Maude Pleydell-Bouverie was born on 8 November 1883.She was the daughter of Lt Col. Hon. John Pleydell-Bouverie and Grace Harriet Malady. She married Colonel John Leader, son of Surgeon Major John Leader, on 25 March 1909.She died on 14 September 1974 at age 90. Her married name became Leader.
