A rare automaton bisque headed doll and child .A most unusual automaton depicting a mother and child in bed . Once the pull start is used the mother sits up in bed and gently rocks the baby , accompanied by music from an internal musical box .This automaton is in totally original condition , the movement of the doll runs perfectly and the music box plays tunefully and loud . All the materials are original . The dolls head has an inscribed German maker on the back of the head , although the underside of the bed is stamped Made in Austria .The condition issues are that the lace and cotton need cleaning and the tinplate bed has minor chips throughout ., but I cannot stress how untouched and perfect working order this automaton is , a rare find .The sizes are for the bed only .Don has been dealing in Meiji period art for 60 years , exhibiting in London , New York , Baltimore , Miami and Shanghai.
