Description

A beautiful antique French writing desk dating from around the 1880-1900 period. This is of absolutely stunning quality, it is a very rare and unusual piece.

It is predominantly made from mahogany, with a stunning inlaid kingwood parquetry top, fine quality ormolu mounts all over, and a solid oak interior.

The bronze ormolu mounts are particularly beautiful, with cherubs, floral motifs and rams heads on each corner. The oval top is rimmed with more fine quality ormolu, which also runs all the way down the legs to the feet. The has a single drawer on the front and is beautifully finished on the back as well; this appears identical front and back.

We have just had this French polished, it is in wonderful condition throughout.
