Unlike counterpart bowls, these feature an oblong shape with the rim being notched in an "M" form, somewhat similar to those on a monteith bowl. The body of the bowl is supported with a widened and flared foot that features a fluted design which continues on to the bottom half of the body.
The upper portion of the bowl features an array of embellishments such as the chased band of scrolls and the figural faces that are present on each end of the bowl. Furthermore, two blank cartouches are present on both pieces - ideal if you wish to add any sort of monograms/engravings to personalise this item. The overall proportion and attention to aesthetic design are most certainly captivating on this piece.
Internally, the bowls feature a magnificent gilt interior with no loss of gilding - this not only provides an indulging and brilliant contrast to the exterior but also protects the silver from any form of oxidation due to the contents inside.
The extended length and size of the bowl provide for an excellent and versatile usage for any objects you may wish to place within. Some of our suggestions include table fruits, flower decorations or sweets (as photographed).
