Artisan Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The highlight of the box is certainly the decorative and detailed top lid, however, equally noteworthy features are the multiple reeded lines and engine turned base of the box that contrast the ornate cast lid.

The interior of the box is fully gilt with a beautiful gold lustre that accents and contrasts the exterior tone.
The hinge and closure of the box are in good working order with a smooth closure that gives a sense of security and high-quality craftsmanship.

The box is fully hallmarked on both the lid and base with clear English marks.
