the white king stamped JAQUES LONDON (in black) along the rim of the base, in a mahogany box (lined with red felt) with a sliding lid, and green label: THE STAUNTON CHESS-MEN...Howard Staunton's facsimile signature...JAQUES & SON, LONDON

King: 8.7cm high (just under 3 1/2 inches)

Pawn: 4.5cm high

Box: 16.5cm long

Stock Reference: AS 1849

Reference: Sir Alan Fersht, Jaques and British Chess Company Chess Sets, Second Revised Edition, 2010. The knights show similarity to the 1870-75 knights on page 16, and the green label matches the green label dated to 1870-1885/90 on page 9.
