A sweet early Derby porcelain plate/dish with curved, raised scalloped rim and sloping stepped down centre. Beautifully painted with finely detailed floral sprays in the manner of the ''cotton-stem painter'' and with brown-red rim. Unmarked, c.1760-1765.
Provenance: Dennis G. Rice Collection
It measures 16.2cm (6 3/8'') wide and 2.5cm (1'') high.
Condition is very good; there is a small rim chip and multiple firing cracks to the edge, a couple of which extend as glaze lines a bit further in. One of these firing cracks was a bit wider and has been filled, neatly and clearly professionally. Surface wear is light and appropriate for age; some scratching to the glaze, mainly away from the enamelling and a little minor wear to the red on the rim.
