Antique English Novelty Sporting Brass Photograph Frame - Cricket

Description

Rarely found and always sought-after, these sporting related photograph frames are quite charming, made from solid brass and Victorian in era.

This example is of course cricket related with the Wicket to rear with two crossed cricket bats and a cricket ball at the bottom of the central wicket.

What makes this even better is the fact that it is signed on the underside B U C Co Ld ... unfortunately I am unable to identify this company. It does also have the highly desirable English Registration number, 12383, for the year 1884.

It looks like the back has to be unscrewed to change the photograph and there may have been a backing of some kind, it's uncertain. The aperture is glazed.

A quite wonderful frame, lots of fun for the Cricket enthusiast in your life. Excellent condition, measuring 5 1/4" wide at base x 6 3/4" tall x 2 1/2" deep from foot to foot; the glazed opening measures 2 1/4" in diameter.f
