The bowl is made in the form of a large pedestal bowl with twin cast handles featuring an exquisite acanthus chased design.
Intricately decorated and contrasting the plain mirror finish, the top band presents a frieze of Roman scenes with many figures including Roman warriors surrounding the entirety of the bowl's rim.
A wide and sturdy foot supports the enlarged bowl on top with an 'egg and tongue' pattern across the base. Above the foot, a convex fluted that radiates towards the mid-section of the bowl is present.
The centre of the bowl is crested and engraved with the motto of the Scottish Royal Stuart Dynasty "Nemo me impune lacessit" translating to "No one provokes me with impunity".
The large aesthetic form certainly draws the eye to this piece and makes for an excellent centrepiece collection whether be it for a collection or a display setting among other antique-ware.
