Description

A fabulous and rare example of a novelty German mechanical bell made from a silver coloured metal in the form of the most charming tortoise.

The bell is would from the underside and rung by pressing either his head or tail, in full working order.

What makes this example special and highly collectable is the "shell" being made from a large domed Nacre or Mother of Pearl shell.

Dating to c.1900 it remains in excellent condition. 6" head to tail x 3" wide x 2" tall.
