Rare Christofle Gallia Art Deco Wine Cooler / Champagne Bucket By Luc Lanel

A scarce find in this design, this fabulous and stylish silver plated wine or champagne cooler is by the top-notch French silversmith, Christofle, part of the Gallia Collection.
 
This design is by one of the most sought-after designers of the Art Deco era, Luc Lanel.
 
Dating to c.1940 it remains in superb condition. The underside has the full mark for Gallia, the Gallic Cock mark and the ''knight'' chess figure in a square box between two letters ''O'' and ''C'' (which is the abbreviation of the two words ''ORFÈVRERIE CHRISTOFLE'').
 
Spanning 10 1/2'' handle to handle x 7 5/8'' x 8 1/4'' tall. Excellent condition having been professionally cleaned and polished in our silversmith''s workshop, minor wear commensurate with age.
