Description

A Regency era mahogany workbox in exceptionally good condition. It dates to c 1820. It has its original brass ball feet, brass handles, lock and key (working) and ivory escutcheon. It is made of figured mahogany with ebony stringing on the edges of each panel. The lid is made of four upward sloping panels, with a central mahogany cartouche. The interior is papered and the mahogany tray has fixed and adjustable sections, two lidded compartments with the original tiny ivory knobs and a central velvet pin cushion. It is remarkable that the condition of this box appears to be original; it has been only lightly used, if that. Really beautiful.
