Description

A beautiful early 19c drop flap worktable dating to c1830, the late Regency to William IV era. The table stands on an octagonal pedestal and scroll footed base. It has two long mahogany lined drawers opening on one side, with locks, and with dummy drawer fronts on the opposite side. Recessed wooden arms support the flaps when raised. The table is made of three woods: a mahogany top with rosewood edging, rosewood pedestal and the drawer fronts and base are veneered in rosewood or another exotic wood possibly goncalo alves or calamander. The depth of colour is fabulous and the use of different woods has resulted in a luxurious piece of furniture.
