Oak Longcase Clock by Pinkerton of Haddington

18th century
Description

An excellent small oak longcase clock by this prolific Scottish Clockmaker.

The 8 day duration movement strikes the hours on a bell and is of typical Scottish quality in its design and build. Complete with matching cast iron weights. The round painted dial shows both seconds and date and with unusual matching blued steel hands.

The oak case of good light colour with ebony string inlay throughout the cabinetwork. The trunk door flanked with reeded quarter columns with oak Doric capitals. The hood with a glazed brass bezel and with a plain broken arch top.

Note: A very popular style made in and around the Edinburgh during the first quarter of the 19th century. Unusually this example is not only very small but it's also constructed from veneered and solid oak. The perfect longcase clock for either a contemporary or period home.

Fully restored and guaranteed for 3 years.
