Early Victorian Mahogany Framed Occasional Chair with Needlework Upholstery

Description

An early Victorian mahogany framed occasional chair, circa 1840 of unusual design, the high back with down-swept side supports and foliate carved terminals, over a serpentine shaped seat and raised on foliate carved cabriole supports terminating in original brass castors. Upholstered in hand stitched needlepoint in a stripe and leaf design.

A very pretty, nice quality, chair. The upholstery is in excellent condition, the frame is sturdy but has some old repairs including a brass plate to the inside of the right hand side back support.
